HO Slotcar 4 Lane Large Layout – RevengeFebruary 5, 2009
This track has to be one of the most challenging tracks I have designed so far. It has a very fast, long straight of 75 inches (6 1/4 ft) with nice wide turns entering and exiting it. Exiting the turn corkscrews down into a twisty, low speed, challenging infield. Inside the infield there is a set of squeeze tracks and two sets of crossovers so making a pass in this section could be very difficult but very rewarding if you pull it off. After the overpass, it unwinds in a fast turn into a back straight of 45 inches (3 3/4 feet). You must then back off the speed to before you approach a very unforgiving “S” turn using the tightest turns available by Tomy, the dreaded 6″ 45 degree curve. After the “S” turn you must concentrate on adding speed as soon as possible once again round the wide turn entering the front straight. Look for most passing to happen on the front and back straight as well as the top level overpass just after the second crossover.

This track is 8 ft 4 inches long and 4 ft 3 inches wide. It won’t fit on a standard 4×8 plywood table but for those with a ping pong table, floor, or other space large enough to accommodate something like this, you have to try this one out. Each lane is challenging at different points of the track and timing the speed on the back and front straights seems to be the key to success.

Coming off the long front straight, you can take this turn pretty quickly but you should slow down quickly at the end
Coming out of the infield, the overpass is another section where overtaking can occur, most turns are wide and it leads into the back straight

Using Tomy’s Super International Race Set combined with 2 squeeze tracks, two chicanes and two hairpin turns, I came up with this layout.

Because the Super International Race Set is four lanes normally, it comes with two power strips. This means that I’m able to power each lane individually so when one car flies off the track, the power to the other lane doesn’t all of a sudden surge causing the other to fly off shortly afterward.
4x8 Ho Slot Car Layouts
Although there are two 6 foot straightaways in this layout, it is a very technical track to drive because at the end of both straights there lays a very tricky hairpin curve you need to slow down for.
